Today, we’re taking a look at yet another product from them, and this time, it’s a True Wireless Earbuds that boasts a quad microphone setup for crystal clear calls and features Qualcomm’s’ aptX low latency, lossless, studio-quality sound in the form of the Tronsmart Onyx Ace. Of course, no product is perfect so in this article, we’ll provide you with everything you need to know about this True Wireless Earbuds.

WHAT’S IN THE PACKAGE
The packaging of the Tronsmart Onyx Ace is pretty standard with any product from tronsmart with a robust box with a hanger slot and some branding around the box. At the back, we have a preview of the product as well as its key features.
The packaging style is a slide up type design and upon opening the box, you’ll be greeted by the Tronsmart Onyx Ace itself protected by a plastic cover.
Underneath the Tronsmart Onyx Ace and its platform reveal the rather short USB Type C charging cable and another accessory box.
Inside the accessory box, we have the user manual and the warranty card.

Design, Construction, and Parts Overview
Let’s start with the charging case, the charging case of the Tronsmart Onyx Ace is actually quite decent. It is made mostly out of plastic with a combination of glossy white finish and silver chrome accents and features 4 LEDs for its battery level and charging indicator.
The charging case without the earbuds weighs around 36g and around 43g with the earbuds inside.
What I like about the charging case of the Tronsmart Onyx Ace is that it is already using the modern USB Type C which essentially makes it easier to charge with reversible plug and of course, you’ll get all the other benefits of using USB Type C.
Opening the case reveals the left and right earbuds themselves which are nicely tucked inside and connected via pins and magnets. The charging case’s top cover is also magnetic and has a substantial force to it to prevent accidental opening.
Now, let’s take a parts overview of the left and right earbuds themselves.
Do you know what I like about the Tronsmart Onyx Ace? what I like about this is that it packs a ton of features from the charging case to the earbuds themselves in such a tiny small form factor and gets the best out of the space it has around.
Looking at its side, we have a microphone nicely covered by a silver chrome lining which is also the same area for the multifunction touch area. Right across it below, we have an LED indicator and we can also see here a bit of the hole on top.
Flipping it on the other side, we have a clear view of the profile of the ear tips and we have yet another hole here. We also have an L (Left) and R (Right) legends on both sides.
Turning it the other way around, we can see the ear tip grill, and apparently, the ear tip has two individual holes on it.
Below the earbuds, we have another microphone for a total of 4 for that quad microphone environmental noise cancellation feature. We also have at the bottom, the two charging pins.
Comfort and Fit
In terms of comfort and fit, this is something that’s quite subjective with this type of ear tip design as it is not adjustable or replaceable like the typical suction type of ear tip. However, with a weight of only around 3.5g, if it does fit your ears, it is relatively comfortable and doesn’t have any pressure at all on your ears while also having some sort of security that it won’t fall off unintentionally but of course, it will still depend on the size of your ear canal so yeah.
Turning on
The Tronsmart Onyx Ace earbuds will automatically turn on once you remove it from the charging case but if you want to manually turn it on, all you have to do is press and hold the multifunction touch area for about 3 seconds.
Turning off
On the other hand, turning the earbuds off is equally easy, you just have to place it back inside the charging case and they will automatically turn off. If you want to manually turn off the earbuds, just press and hold the multifunction touch area for about 5 seconds.
Bluetooth Connectivity and Pairing
Pairing the Tronsmart Onyx Ace with your device is a piece of cake, all you have to do is remove the earbuds from the charging case and it will automatically go to pairing mode indicated by the flashing LED on the side of the earbud, turn on Bluetooth on your host device, pair it, and you’re good to go. After the successful pairing, the flashing LED will turn off, pretty straightforward.
Can not turn off the earbuds individually
Now, one thing that’s kinda annoying with the Tronsmart Onyx Ace is the lack of the ability to turn off each earbud individually, if you turn off either of the earbuds, both will turn off. Thankfully, on the other hand, you have the option to turn the earbuds on individually, so essentially, you can turn on and use only one earbud if you’re into that, let say in some situations that you don’t want to completely isolate yourself from the environment. It’s just weird that you can not turn them off individually.
In terms of Bluetooth connectivity and performance, the Tronsmart Onyx Ace features Bluetooth 5.0 with up to 15 meters of working distance providing that you have a clear line of sight. As per our testing, signal strength is pretty decent and we did not encounter any issues with it even with a couple of walls in between the devices. We tried moving towards a third wall and it can still provide decent signal providing that you don’t move too much.
Multifunction Touch Sensitive Controls
Now, in terms of controlling your music playback and calls, we have a multifunction touch-sensitive area on its side with the following available options:
L/R – Turn on Manually – Tap and hold the multifunction area for 3 seconds
L/R – Turn off Manually (affects both earbuds regardless of which one you press) – Tap and hold the multifunction area for 5 seconds
Music Playback
L/R – Play/Pause – Tap the multifunction area twice
R – Next Track – Tap and hold the multifunction area for 2 seconds
L – Previous Track – Tap and hold the multifunction area for 2 seconds
R – Volume + – Tap the multifunction area once
L – Volume – – Tap the multifunction area once
Calls
L/R – Answer/End a phone call – Tap the multifunction area twice
L/R – Reject a phone call – Tap and hold the multifunction area for 2 seconds
Voice Assistant
L/R – Activate Voice Assistant – Tap the multifunction area three times quickly
In terms of controls for both music playback and calls, we have a substantial amount of options and pretty much everything that we need like adjusting volumes, changing tracks, and answering and rejecting calls. The only downside really is like I said earlier, you can not turn off the earbuds individually.
Battery Life and Charging Time
In terms of battery life, the Tronsmart Onyx Ace with a 40mAh of battery on each earbud is rated up to 5 hours at 50% volume and up to 24 hours using the charging case with a 400 mAh of battery. In addition, charging the earbuds as per specifications is about 1 hour and 20 minutes, and charging the charging case should take around 1 hour and 30 minutes.
And as per our own testing, at the same 50% volume level, indeed, it was able to last around 5 hours and 4 minutes on a single charge and charging the earbuds took around 1 hour and 27 minutes while charging the charging case itself took around 1 hour and 37 minutes, right around their rated specifications which is a good sign.
Now, while the earbuds are charging inside the case, the top and bottom LEDs will light up, the top is for the right earbud and the bottom is for the left earbud. If the four LED light goes on in sequence, it means that the charging case is recharging and if you open the case, the LEDs will light up indicating the charge level.
Microphone Quality
In terms of microphone quality, the Tronsmart Onyx Ace features a quad microphone setup that allows the environmental noise cancellation feature to do its job quite well and as per our testing, indeed it was able to cancel even the loudest fan noise in our room. At first, you’ll hear the noise but after a second it will immediately die down and the microphone audio starts to become clearer.
Sound Quality
Now, when it comes to sound quality, the thing that immediately strikes me the most is the overwhelmingly loud volume levels that it can reach, probably the loudest True Wireless Earbuds that I’ve tried using a smartphone. It’s quite loud that at max, depending on the music, it can get pretty uncomfortable. With that said, I appreciate this as you have a substantial amount of headroom when it comes to volume levels should you choose to bang your head to some all-out rock and roll music listening experience. Dialing the volume a bit reveals the actual sound signature of the Tronsmart Onyx Ace which in my opinion is on the brighter side of the spectrum. It has crispy clear mids and has just the right amount of pinch on the highs but depending on the music, the highs can get quite sharp at a higher volume. The low end is adequate but nothing to write home about, it has enough kick but often gets overshadowed by the mids and highs. Overall, if you like high volume, pinchy mids and highs, the Tronsmart Onyx Ace could be a good option.
VERDICT
To conclude, the Tronsmart Onyx Ace proved to be a feature-packed True Wireless Earbuds that can provide the loudest volume you can get on a pair of wireless earbuds. It is stacked with features like LED notification for days with both the earbuds themselves and the charging case having LED indicators for connectivity and charging, preventing you from guessing the charge levels and connectivity status. It also features a multifunction touch area that is quite responsive and provides adequate controls for both music playback and answering calls. Speaking of calls, the Tronsmart Onyx Ace also features a quad microphone setup to provide crystal clear communication using its built-in environmental noise cancellation feature. And lastly, in terms of sound quality, like I said, you can crank this up until your head blows off, and dialing it down gives you a nice crispy and fun music listening experience.
